Her lover was a promise, to keep her love, and make her a princess To never break her heart, and to save her single soul, From the darkness that lingered, and the evil that could come. But then one day, an old friend arrived. She watched in the shadows, with envy but silence. Hoping he would notice, and break off the true love. To some she was a saint, but to the girl, she was just confused. And while the girl did nothing wrong, the friend kept advancing. Like a knight in a battle, she fought for her side. Though the fight was unbalanced, as the lovers kept going. Making their own history, and the girl kept her silence. For she knew the planning, and kept her wishing, Her prince would keep his promise. But then one day the friends reunited, and the roles suddenly were revered. The blue dressed girl was the silent, and the friend turned the princess. But that was the mind of the man being fought. His princess had switched, though the friend loved him not. And sadly this is not a fairy-tale ending. The girl never forgot, never stopped loving. The friends got married, though their relationship ended in flames. And the blue dressed girl watched silently, loving as before, the same, As her old lover drunk himself in hate, abandonment, loneliness. The girl was too broken to marry, having done it before. And the lovers once again met at the dance But the love meant no more. |
