1. Protagonist - Caitlin Price. Age 33 2. Goal(s) - Caitlin's - Main goal - to be free from her abusers. To escape from Carl, then Andy. To be happy. To be at peace with memories of the past. To be a writer/ have own job and own money (independence). To have own home, without any man to hurt her. To record her experiences and help others who are going through the same experiences. To be safe. To be allowed her own mind. 3. Conflict - What is keeping Cait from her goal? Cait - Temporary sight loss. Her husband finding where she is hiding. Andy catching her trying to escape. Andy imprisoning her. Shame. Lack of confidence. Lack of job/money/independence. Andy's lies make her think she's protected by him, when he is the aggressor. Fear 4. Antagonist - Carl Price. Human. Age 33. Beats, sexually abuses, emotionally abuses Caitlin. Once she escapes, his goal is to find her and make her pay, then have her as his wife again. Andy Foreman. Human. Age 44. Psychologist. Makes Caitlin trust him, then lies to her and makes her think Carl is watching her. He is a control freak. He imprisons her eventually, sometimes keeping her ties to bed, sometimes just locked in room. He wants total dominance over Cait. Bonus Theme - Caitlin's terrifying fight for freedom from her male abusers. Ways to resolve conflict within this theme - Her initial escape from Carl. Then she escapes from Andy. She testifies in court and they both get sent to prison. |
