A guy shows his sensitive side.
Here's the story.

I have an old fashioned wind up alarm clock by my bedside, one with large bells on the top which a small hammer strikes. It can make enough noise to wake even the deepest sleeper. I like the way the clock looks. The alarm, not so much.

Hence the small pieces of duct tape on the hammer to muffle the sound.

A former girlfriend said that those pieces of duct tape showed that it was all about appearances for me. I'm not sure about the clock, but she was right about why I liked her.

Since we split, her comment has bugged me, so I've been trying to look at things a little differently. To see more than just the superficial.

I have a bird feeder on the deck outside my apartment. Most of activity at the feeder comes from small grey sparrows. Not spectacular, and kind of nasty to each other. But they do chirp away, and much of their rushing about is to feed their young.

Watching the sparrows has enabled me to see beauty in common everyday things.

But now, I've been overwhelmed by a new sight. Beauty that has nothing in common with anything I've seen before.

As I raised my wine glass to take a sip, you appear before me. All thoughts of looking at anything else fly away like those small sparrows outside my window.

Well...

"What do you think guys? Is that a great story, and a killer line, or what?"

"I'm sensitive, and she's gorgeous."

"I'm going to try it out at the party tonight on the best looking girl there."
