A poem for when I get where I'm going.
Someday, some bright and wonderful day
When the world is no longer in need of me
I'll fly with the birds of the sky.
I'll unfurl my wings and play among the clouds;
I'll laugh like a child, no worries or fears.

The weight of the world no longer on my back,
I'll smile like a fool, and dance like no one's watching.
When the Lord calls me home away from here,
I'll fly away to be home again.

Oh that happy day!
I'll be rid of the darkness
Which stains my soul,
And feeds on my happiness.
Oh happy day when I gain my wings.

I'll drink of the fount of youth,
Trade stories with Noah and Moses,
I'll walk with the Lord in his Garden,
And never worry about pain again.

I'll see my Momma, no pain, no cancer,
No weariness evident on her face.
I'll hug my Granny's neck,
And finally shake the hand of my grandfather,
When the Lord finally calls me home.

I'll sit in God's lap,
And thank him for holding me close,
When the darkness tried to take me.
I'll look down to the Earth,
And ride a raindrop as it falls
Gracefully to the ground.

And when the final days come,
and the Lord's second coming fills the sky,
I hope to be behind him,
When the Saints go marching in.
Oh that Great and Glorious day,
When the lamb becomes the Lion.

When the Lord calls me home,
I'll leave this Earthly body,
and it'll return to the dust,
And sin will cover me no more.

When the Lord calls me home.
