From up there
Beyond deception
Past all interference
The cruelest of bastard
Controls each one of us
The masses
From his ivory tower
Up there
He lends judgment
His kindness
Pale in comparison
To his unmitigated
Relentlessness
All that he is
And all that he’s not
Comes down upon us
Mere mortals
Feeble receptacles
Taking in
What he is giving
Saying it’s a blessing
All the while knowing
There is no such thing
We have been left here
To our own defenses
Survival is such bliss
We’ll do what it takes
At the detriment of ourselves
And all of human kind
We are meant to feel the pain
Deep inside and out
In the pit of our hearts
In the prison of our mind
In that place
Where nothing grows
In that hole
Where only an end is home
Between the fear of faith
And the realization
That we are just animals
Advanced thinkers
Attune to surviving
At least for a time
Suffering in kind
Via his design
Per his divine right
Callous are the hands
Of those who refuse
Fending off everyone else
Has left them beyond bruised
Seen as outcast
By those doomed
Shunned by a society of fools
Eager are the believers
Praying to the sky
Taking in nothing
Assuming everything
We are meant to feel the pain
The universal plight
Of every being in sight
Those so saved
And those so lost
God cares less than us
That bastard above
Has his thumb upon our spine
Pushing harder
With each sound
Some of us know
Because by him at times
An extra effort is shown
He makes us suffer more
Than any other before
He wants to teach us
To show us a firsthand lesson
One that we will never forget
One that we will always share
As part of his plan
Faith is nothing without challenge
Nothing without those brave few
To stand in defiance
Of What all else
See without question
As absolute…
