Realizing that things could be worse.
Sitting here in my "cold" house shivering.  Feeling like I am cold to the BONE!  Check the thermostat and it is registering 62 degrees!  SIXTY TWO DEGREES!  Who touched the thermostat?  OF COURSE, NOBODY.  WELL SOMEBODY turned it back on after checking every ICE COLD RADIATOR in my reach.  I also pulled out the little electric heaters to break the ice while the radiators warm back up.

Why am I WRITING all of this?  It made me remember those who are sleeping outside in this cold today.  Those who cannot turn up the thermostat even in their own homes because they could not pay their bills.  It made me send up a prayer on behalf of the children that are home today from school bundled up in blankets because there is no heat in their homes.  IT REMINDED ME OF MY BLESSINGS!

When you feel that you have nothing to be thankful for, you only have to slightly experience what others are going through to realize how blessed you are.

When you believe that you are having it so bad, it only takes a short walk in someone else's shoes to quickly learn that maybe what you are going through is not that bad after all.

When you are wondering what God is doing about your situation, take a moment and realize that your situation may just be temporary, someone else's may be permanent or long term.

By the time I finished writing this post, my radiators were warming up.  The electric heater had taken the chill off, and my blanket was beginning to be a little too warm.

Sometimes, we need these small reminders to help us remember the blessings that we already have before we get to screaming and shouting about the ones we want, and hope to get.

Thank you Lord for my cold house.  Thank you for the reminder that there are those who are MUCH LESS fortunate than I.  Thank you for walking with me daily and keeping me humble enough to recognize the lessons that you are still teaching me.

Have you counted your blessings today?

Peace and blessings always!
