Soundtrack of My Life day 14 The Beatles |
Because today is Valentine's Day, I decided this entry would be about the great love my husband and I have for one another. Unfortunately, my first song pick--"Valentine," by Patty Larkin, wasn't anywhere I could find it. I then tried finding another song by Patty Larkin. I had no luck with finding a song of hers that would work. I examined lists of love songs.Nada. I tried country songs next. My husband, Whiskey, went to the store while I searched for something, and after he returned I asked him for ideas. We went back and forth, and he suggested "Heart Don't Forget" by Tim McGraw. I vetoed that, since they don't wind up together. I thought about a couple of other songs by McGraw, but they weren't right either. I switched to Brad Paisley and brought up his song "We Danced." A sweet, gentle, romantic song. But then I thought of Randy Travis and his song "Forever and Ever Amen," another personal favorite of mine. I thought then I'd solved it, but Whiskey came up with another suggestion, "I Want To Kiss You All Over" by Exile. Listening to that, I thought it was another song entirely. My husband wanted to know what song I thought it was, so I found and played "You Sexy Thing," by Hot Chocolate. Up until the end, I expected to be putting in two songs, one for each of us. But we found a song, one that fits us both. It's "When I'm Sixty-Four" by the Beatles. Whiskey and I plan to grow old together, so it's perfect. "When I'm Sixty Four" When I get older losing my hair Many years from now Will you still be sending me a valentine Birthday greetings, bottle of wine? If I'd been out till quarter to three Would you lock the door? Will you still need me, will you still feed me When I'm sixty-four? You'll be older too And if you say the word I could stay with you I could be handy, mending a fuse When your lights have gone You can knit a sweater by the fireside Sunday mornings go for a ride Doing the garden, digging the weeds Who could ask for more? Will you still need me, will you still feed me When I'm sixty-four? Every summer we can rent a cottage in the Isle of Wight If it's not too dear We shall scrimp and save Grandchildren on your knee Vera, Chuck & Dave Send me a postcard, drop me a line Stating point of view Indicate precisely what you mean to say Yours sincerely, wasting away Give me your answer, fill in a form Mine for evermore Will you still need me, will you still feed me When I'm sixty-four?
