From: Dog Poetry, a little puppy poem
I do Not Come Prepackaged
(From: Dog Poems)

They stand there in static anticipation
While I lace up my boots
Because I do not come prepackaged
With fur covered paws and nails

I don my hat and put on my coat
They spin and wonder what is the hold
Because I do not come prepackaged
With heavy fur coats and high energy

I get ready to open the door
To the cold and snowy world
Because I do not come prepackaged
They await my authority, but barely

Like horses at the gate
Like wind before the storm
They notice not snow or chill
Because they come prepackaged
And do not know why I don’t
