With crystal hands, winter repaints the scene. (Form: Villanelle)
With Crystal Hands

With crystal hands, winter repaints the scene
in subtle hues of white; the colors fade
‘til only memory holds summer’s green.

The silence, broken by the distant keen
of wolves, entwines within the cold brocade.
With crystal hands, winter repaints the scene.

Autumn’s fiery palette is wiped clean;
the vibrancy of life is once more stayed
‘til only memory holds summer’s green.

Erased, the former glory is not seen
nor the bounty of the world displayed.
With crystal hands, winter repaints the scene.

The once bright sun fades to a pale citrine
dimming the colors of the scene portrayed
‘til only memory holds summer’s green.

The lucent landscape glimmers with the sheen
of grays and blues without a trace of jade.
With crystal hands, winter repaints the scene
‘til only memory holds summer’s green.
