Honoring the Great Spirit

Warrior Spirit

The great warrior bowed.

His eyes fell
upon a drifting reflection
carrying forth his spirit.

In the laughing water
he saw a face
visited by crows.

Parched lips
were whispering
final... eternal... truths...

Unknowable mysteries,
like balancing prayers
being carried upon the wind,
breathing life
into the crimson fire
of the night.

Bathed in embers,
life lines let go their final grasp
on staff and shield.

The great warrior spirit
embraced the sparks
as they danced skyward...

carrying forth forever
the ways of his people.

The brightest star,
like a beacon
guiding the way

was a portal in the night...
to the beautiful unknown.
