All things dark, all things troubling, all the pain in my life comes from one event.

Something
Nothing
Wanting
Deeply desiring
Both
Singular events
To be multiplied
Then amplified
Reciprocation
Would you friend
Grant this man
His needed vacation
Not a place
Or point in time
But rather
An escape
From what is me
Relief
When there is none
Freedom unsung
Adhere to the message
Get the point
Let me further add
To aid in developing
Compassion required
You mean
Nothing at all
Is what they said
Their holiest of pretext
Simple it now seems
They gave me away
With no shame
They turned their backs
Heading
Towards an escape
But
Before they left
They did an about face
Looking, pointing
At me
At those in charge
Calmly
They reiterated
They profoundly stated
This child
This terrible boy
Does not deserve
What WE have
What’s offered
As he grows
As he further knows
Tell him
Each
And every new day
After this one
That he alone
Does not belong
That he
Is a mistake
A sin if there is
Such a tedious thing
His life
His existence
Not a blessing
But rather an accident
God above knows
He has assured us
Via his sacred word
That what we are doing
By leaving him here
Is both right
And righteous
Easily
They were at the end
The few lines spoken
Like weights
Around my heart and soul
Forever
I have since carried
At times
The load is too great
The pain of such
A burdensome weight
Wears on me constantly
They said nothing else
Those who gave me life
They left me alone
Never would I
Or anyone else
See them again
They would disappear
Into a world
That few are part of
Sometimes
I sit in the dark
And wonder to myself
“What If?”
Sometimes
I want to know
What happened to them
But most of the time
Certainly I don’t
You mean
Nothing at all
Is what they said
What I heard
From that day on
Those words
Have become part of me
At the core of my foundation
I wish for just a few moments
That someone
Could take them from me
That someone could erase them
But no one can
No one has that power
That ability to make me forget
To allow me to relent…
