Eye of the Wind

A gentle shove away from sheltering dock
into clear waters. A raising of canvas
filled with freshening breath and high expectations.

No passenger, I: this trip I hold both sheet and rudder
prompting others to sail forth on this journey,
gauging results as wind pressures sailboat to come about.

Throwing words into the wind,
concepts are the map, challenge is the compass
and I hope for clear skies and following seas.

Steering clear, don't want to rock the boat
lest unwary soul falls overboard. Yet I want to push
the boundaries beyond perceived comfort zones.

I raise the flag of triumph to heights of mast
as we draw again, close to land. There is no muddied water
to bail, instead, a seasoning has occurred.

Been an honor to sail with such a crew
each learning new skills to weather storms
of uncertainty, gaining courage to leave safe harbor.
