An irritating co-worker.
Down at the office Roberta starts singing;
aural affliction is mine before long.
I am the only co-worker to hear her;
humming to start with turns into a song.

Cubicles warp open spaces to cubby;
it’s good for privacy-- not so for sound;
Sometimes Roberta is off-key impulsive;
those are the times I wish I’m not around.

(Still non-stop humming erodes brain cell lining;
  one Chinese torture was the water drip.
  Low are the hums yet I forfeit my patience;
  I grit my teeth as I search for a grip.)

Ear plugs considered as well as Koss headphones;
they were dismissed because hearing I need.
I use the telephone and Skype aplenty;
(non-stop Roberta tis torture indeed!)

I try so hard to dismiss this uprising;
in through one ear, out the other to wit.
Yet irritation shows no sign of egress;
I am a sounding board right where I sit.

Then I remember what Mother once told me;
if you can’t beat them, then go with the flow.
So I now hum and sing songs of my liking,
here at Harmonious Team Audio.
