Mark 5:25 (mat 13.12, 25.26; Luke 8.18 and 19.26)

Matthew 25:27: Do something with your talents.

But the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful. 20

Then the cares and anxieties of the world and distractions of the age, and the pleasure and delight and false glamour [fame] and deceitfulness of riches, and the craving and passionate desire for other things creep in and choke and suffocate the Word, and it becomes fruitless.

Yet it has no real root in him, but is temporary (inconstant, [i]lasts but a little while); and when affliction or trouble or persecution comes on account of the Word, at once he is caused to stumble [he is repelled and [j]begins to distrust and desert Him Whom he ought to trust and obey] and he falls away.

They allow the natural world to dictate what they believe.
