the enlightened one




Buddha

A bronze statue sits

On a podium it fits

From the Orient it comes

From an ancient kingdom



He is in the warm sunlight

He sits with his arms upright

Buddha is his name

He prays for the lame



A teacher is he

And he never flees

From strife or disease

He enlightens me.



He is Buddha!
