I’m in Charge of the Chickens

Well summer is vacation time

For you, for me, for yours and mine

My landlords are the greatest folk

They help me out, they jest, they joke

Now they have fled, to camping gone

Relax, refresh, with time to yawn

So I’m in Charge of the Chickens

Evening sun hangs up so long

I must restrict my dance and song

I can’t go out until it is late

Must shut the hutch and close the gate

Then  out I go and party fine

I’ll have some fun, but not much time

Cause I’m in Charge of the Chickens

That sun comes early to the sky

And chickens love to peck not fly

Open up and let them run

So they can scratch and have their fun

I dare not sleep until it is late

Now don’t you fret or feel bad

One long weekend is all they had

Both work so hard throughout the year

Least I can do to bring them cheer

My landlords are my friends you see

It’s very lucky to be me
