Burning Bright

The fire burning bright
         up into the night
Reminds of the flame
         young love has remained
                   throughout the years
         through the tears and fears
                   the joy and sorrow
The flame has remained bright
         through the long dark lonely nights
for the young flicker of high school
         of a red haired boy
                   for a blue eyed girl
when he touched her once
                   and then no more
         does he dream
                   of her evermore?
As the fire burns low
         into the darkness of the night
Does her desire
         grow forever
                   higher with dreams
         of leaving to start anew?
