Simply a poem
I looked around the world,
And never did I find,
A set of chess pieces,
Exactly quite like mine,

I found them one day,
On the street out in town,
I only walked a while,
But these chess pieces I had found,

I picked them up,
And brought them home,
And wondered whose they were,

A rich prince's birthday present,
An old man's pride and joy,
A little boy's gift for his ill mother,

Or a set for a man,
Who simply enjoys the game,

Perhaps it was a student's,
From a chess club of sorts,
With which they won,
The state championship,

Or maybe I'm being silly,
An the pieces never were,
Never will,
But still,

I think,
I shall keep them,

And see what they will make of me
