It is amazing what we will do when being ourselves is no longer working. |
-Dancing With Monsters- by Keaton Foster One to the left Two to the right Head to the front Looking into the eyes of danger Fearless, unconcerned Woefully absurd Back to where we began The starting point of our lives Not the moment we were born Dancing with monsters Such unencumbered creatures Always doing what they wish Leaving many of us hurt Screaming for mercy On the dance floor Somehow what we are doing Those of us willing to step in Is disguised as conformity When of course conformity Is what it is least of all There are plenty watching Those not so affected Those for the most part Not so molested Envy, another game Another lesson to be played But not here and now The song is never the same The dance, oh does it change The venue, clear and pristine A wilderness is always near God above supplies the beat The rhythm of his needs There are always those to be saved And those others to be dammed Part of his unintentional plan Dancing with monsters Leading one foot In front of the other Having two left feet Will ensure nothing Capability is all that matters That and an ability to act To a level where faking Becomes more natural Then the certainty we must face Cutting the rug Swinging around Proudly screaming Look at me, world not seen Darkness so twistedly dreamed I, and not so many of you Am dancing with monsters Creatures that would rather kill Beast that would rather destroy Somehow made quite manageable Somehow turned quite agreeable Tamed by the music Tricked by the sway Lessoned in every way We are masters of the game Or so we dare say Those of you not playing The ones there against the wall The ones who would rather watch Then take any reasonable part Are fools with not an ounce of spark God did indeed create this charade And we, not so many of you Are the ones playing it through Dancing with monsters One to the left Two to the right Head to the front Looking into the eyes of danger Fearless, unconcerned Woefully absurd Back to where we began The starting point of our lives Not the moment we were born Such unencumbered creatures Always doing what they wish By stepping in we are like them By standing out We could only be ourselves… Dancing With Monsters Written by Keaton Foster Copyright © 2014. |
