A Friend Indeed

It was just your normal everyday park
A man over dressed was on the bench
As the trees blew the birds began to sing
A few more moments and time to pray

This is when he depends on His strength
First of all he must give heartfelt thanks
Whispering softly caught the attention
Of a blue bird beside him on the bench

“Hey little guy.” The bird just looked up
“You came just in time to join me.”
It was getting close to time for him to go
The building was right across the street

Standing with confidence relying on his watch
Straightening his tie and checking on his shine
The suit was dark blue with a flag on the lapel
“Wish me luck little guy,  you're a good friend.”

The wait was not long before the interview
He nailed it with all his experience in the service
So much technology after working on a sub
He thanked and shook the interviewer's hand

Walking to the elevator he noticed something
That blue bird was out on the ledge all along
The bird pecked on the glass so he reached out
He touched the little guys beak with his finger

This piece is to remind us all that our military need a new start.  Finding a job can seem daunting at best. The VA help them with health problems and educational skills.

As I was reading the other day about the veterans, there was an article about a young woman who provides free suits for our returning vets. Just think what a new suit can do for anyone but imagine what it means to a man who has to start all over again.  God bless her kindness.
