How we got the Easter Bunny.
Don asked his dad about the Easter Bunny;
“Why does he bring eggs?  To me it seems funny.”
Tom gazed at Don candidly and replied,
“It is hair-raising, get set for a ride!”

“Listen my son and I'll tell you a story,
‘bout Easter season and egg-colored glory.
  There was a need for a proper mascot,
  so with alacrity mascot was sought.”

(“They saw lions, they saw tigers,
    they saw chimpanzees;
      and all through the animal kingdom they looked,
          yet nothing they found, seemed right.”)

“Then heads were gathered to synchronize noodle;
  some processed thinking while others would doodle.
  Someone soon proffered that Easter was spring--
    that it was like that old Genesis thing.”

“Yes it relates to new life and creation,
  cried a board member in pure jubilation.
  Such is the time for prolific onset,
  so I believe I know who I can get.”

“Look at the rabbits, their copious tender;
  more is their motto, new offspring they render.
  What more could be apropos for our need,
  than fur-ball hoppers with plenty of seed!”

“Another member then proffered with vigor,
  that as a mascot the hare should be bigger.
  He could then walk with a basket, egg-filled,
  such that all children which surely be thrilled.”

Don eyed his dad with attachment and wonder.
Off in the distance they both heard some thunder.
Don said to Tom while awaiting downpour,
“ I'm glad they picked a big hare to adore.”
