Secrets. These secrets could change her life forever. |
Chapter One The door creaked as she slowly opened the door. The floor boards began to creak as she walked across the floor. Shadows loomed all around her as she walked slowly out of her small bedroom. Her bedroom led into a long hallway which led to the back door. Her father had their house built just like the ones he used to live in while he was living in the Netherlands. As she slowly crept along the hallway; in the distance she could see a shadow looming from out of one of the door ways which lined the hallway. She could see that the shadow belonged to no other than her father. His tall figure with a large cowboy hat gave that away. Her father was a very tall man with a bushy moustache. He often stroked it as he rolled his cigarettes which he smoked every day for hours. Many times she had counted up to forty cigarettes at a time that he had rolled. He was a known chain smoker. He had begun that bad habit the day when he received a "Dear John" letter from their mother. She had wrote in that letter that she no longer loved him and had found someone else. what she had heard from the other girls at school was that she had taken off with her father's best friend. Well who used to be her father's best friend. They no longer spoke to each other and that was for the past twenty years. She had met a guy six months ago on-line. She had been for the past six months been sneaking around her father's back. Her father had a dumb rule which was that no daughter of his was to date until she became the age of twenty-one. She after all was nineteen years old so she was almost twenty-one years old. What her father did not know would not hurt him was how she justified her actions to her conscience. She deep inside knew that what she was doing was wrong. However this was a different situation. Rick was different. If her father had gotten to know Rick; he surely would let her date him. Rick was mature. In fact he was twenty years older than her. He was really mature. One thing which would have a strike against him was the fact he was twenty years older than her. Then there was the fact that he was a black man would be another strike. He was a tall brute. His slender well kept body always drove her crazy with desire. After all, Kitty, her father's new girl friend was twenty years younger than her father. Kitty was a slender tall blonde who was thirty years old. Her father just had turned fifty. Many of her friends at school thought that the girl was only after her father's money. She was not sure but she did know that her father did make a good wage was a nurse at the local nursing home which was located in the middle of their town of Springsville. Springsville was a small town of two thousand people. The place had a old folks home as well as a large hospital. She had just gotten a part time job as a care manger at the Springsville long term care center. The place now was run by her auntie Gwen for the past thirty years. From what she had heard from conversations which her father had on the phone; her aunt was sick with cancer. They were hoping for a miracle. In the distance, she could heard her father's girl friend call his name. Only Kitty could get away with calling him William. Most everybody else had to call him Bill. However, with a body like Kitty's you could get away with calling him anything other than calling him late for dinner. She waited for him to walk back into the room; when she raced to run quickly by his door way before he could see her. As she raced by; in the corner of her eye, she could see Kitty standing in her birth day suite right in the middle of their bedroom. She felt a little bit of jealousy flow through her body. She was so beautiful that she looked like she stepped off of the page of a beauty magazine. As she realized that he was being distracted; she raced out the back door on her way to her freedom. She walked around to the guest house where there was a hot tub inside that suite. There she could have some privacy from the eyes of her father. This was the location where her new boy friend and her had been meeting for the past six months. She noticed that the tub's lid was open and the hot water was bubbling with red, blue and green lights glowing. In fact it reminded her of a Christmas tree. As she looked at the tub; she could not resist. She slipped out of her robe which revealed a red bikini which she had bought from the catalog last summer. As she eased her way into the tub; suddenly someone's hands covered her face. She jumped screaming with shock. Suddenly, the hand covered her mouth. Then she realized that it was Rick her new boy friend. Her heart was racing since she had the day lights scared out of her. Her tall black boy friend slipped into the tub with her. Before she knew it; they were hugging and kissing as they usually did every night. They had been meeting like this ever since she had gotten together with him. Then she remembered something. She pulled out a pregnancy test strip. She then pulled it out of it's box as she told him. She wanted both of them to see the strip together. It would be a complete surprise for both of them. As the two of them looked at the strip; it was Rick who broke the silence. "It's blue. Doesn't that meant that you are pregnant when the strip turns that color?" Stacia's face was already white with shock and fear. It was Rick who broke the silence as she just stared at the strip with her mouth open. "When are you planning on telling your father? Stacia's stomach felt sick as she thought of her father's reaction. How was she going to break the news to her father that not only was she sneaking behind his back with a guy; she was now with child. She cupped her hands to her mouth. What was she going to do? She felt her boy friend's arms reach around her. "It is going to be alright. We can do this together. You father will understand." "You do not know my father. He is going to be very upset. I have broken his rule of not dating before the age of twenty-one." The two of them held each other as the bubbles raced around and the lights blinked off and on. Stacia deep inside her heart hoped that her father would have room in his heart to forgive her. |
