a romantic comedy of a young girl and a young boy who find peace in a tree house
The cold october wind smacked my face as I walked to the market. My name is Cat Jolly. I entered the market with my scarf wrapped around my mouth. I let out a sigh. The market was nice and warm. I strolled over to the bread isle. There were a bunch of varieties of bread. All shapes and sizes! I reached for Wilber’s one and only bread but another hand toppled over mine as i touched the bread. It was so warm and smelled divine i couldn’t wait to make my famous turkey butter sandwhich. Everybody tells me I will become a chef when i grow up but for now since i am only 10 years old i should stick to the basics. “ Oh I’m sorry you can have the bread” i heard a voice say. I looked to my right. There was a boy about my age dark brown hair a nice smile and a gentle non-harming voice. I blinked. “Oh here you take it” I said shoving it into his arms. “Well your mighty nice” he said chuckling. “ Hi” I said smiling “ I am Cat”. “ I’m Jake” he said reaching out his hand to greet me. “Oh thats ok only adults do that” i said. He took his hand back embarresed. “Say” i said “ I haven’t seen you around here before”. “Oh i just moved here” he said shyly. “I could show you around where do you live” i asked. “ The blue house at the end of the corner” he replied. “Oh cool say I’ll come by tomorrow when I’m done with my homework ok” i asked. “Sure” he said happily. i grabbed the next bread and hurried out of the door. i slapped my scarf around my face and pushed through the stale cold air. When I got home i baked some blueberry muffins and watched who’s there? The next day I cooked eggs, bacon, and my breakfast sandwhiches for me and my dad. We gobbled down the food and i did my area and perimeter worksheets. Right when I finished the last problem I threw my pencil down pulled my furry boots on and my coat and flew out the front door. I rang his doorbell and a lady with black long hair and a nice professional outfit answered. “Is Jake there” I asked. “Oh yes one second” she replied scurrying into the house. “Jake” I heard her call. A few moments later he stood at the doorway blinking. “Hey” I said. “Hey” he replied. The moment got really awkward. “You wanna go to my house we can watch t.v then after that explore town” i asked. He grinned “sure” he replied. And with that we headed out the door. We watched a little bit of grand rebel then headed into town. "You know hanging out with u is fun" I said shyly. " you to" jake replied. I smiled. Jakes dark brown hair flew in the wind. "Come on" I said running ahead. "Ok" he said chasing after me. I finally came to a stop in front of a million trees. "Woah" he said breathless " cool". I grinned " come on" I yelled pulling his hand after me. His hand was soft and warm. "You know what we should do" he asked as we reached the middle of the woods. "What" I asked. " lets build a tree house" he said his eyes faced mine they were so cute "ok" I said cheerfully when we finished we were both hot and sweaty. "it's perfect" I exclaimed " otally" he said agreeingly. And it was perfect. We spent the whole afternoon playing in it. Then we started wrestling for fun. We ended up with Jake on top of me he had me pinned down. We both stared at eachother. I bet we both were confused. what now I kept repeating in my head. then out of nowhere he leaned up to my face. and I stayed perfectly where I was. we both closed our eyes. his lips fell on mine. they were warm his breath tasted of roses. His lips pulled off of mine. We stared at eachother. Then I guess we leaned in again. At one point we left. holding hands we strolled over to his house. I hugged him not knowing what to do. then left.
