Definition of Target Market for “They Call Him Chance” My target market is adults, 39 to 59, those people that remember the 1980s with fondness, for they lived them, grew up during them, those that can remember when MTV played videos. They will be educated, with various amounts of college education, and will have employment. The purpose of reading the novel will be escapism, to forget the day’s events and just dream of what might have happened to them, if only they, too, had the chance to return. My secondary market is adult women 29 to 59. The romantic, second chance at your first love, aspect of the novel with allow them to dream of their first loves. More than likely, the women will be married, just reading the book to put a little smile on their faces. The tertiary market is adult males 29 to 59. The suspenseful aspect of the novel will grab them and keep reading until they find out what happens to the “MacGuffin,” the painting which is just an object used to give the novel’s characters a quest to look for. Though I believe the majority of my readers will be from upstate New York and New England, I believe the rest of the country will be interested. Bonus Workspace Preparation: Computer: I will use the one and only laptop I have. I will use the thumb drive set aside and prepared for the NaNoWriMo. Work: At home: At the dining room table, with the television off. At cafes: I will use a table, large enough to be able to hold a large/venti cup of latte, or a large cup of soda. Supplies: I will need pens and loose-leaf paper, just in case a thought comes while writing, so I can come back to it. I will also need major amounts of caffeine, to stimulate left-brain. The muses will be called upon as well. Music is important: the iPod and iTunes will be used. I will need to create a playlist for WinAmp, though the light, 1980s music I’ve found will be used as well. |
