A unique poem about being on a boat out to sea within my own vast and twisted mind. |
-Safe To Shore- by Keaton Foster Safe to shore Forever more Out here Upon a distant sea Miles and miles Of endless dreams Flowing in every direction Currents yet detected Pushing and forcing Shoving my perceptions Offering up interference Clarity is an illusion Of this undefined mind This small boat Does indeed leak Water seeps Cracked From stem to stern Age and pounding waves Have taken their toll Someday real soon This small boat could Without question sink All the passengers Will die terrible deaths All those once living Will be rendered stones To the deepest depths With the entire ocean Resting up their chest They must have done One well of a thing To be out here with me Metaphysically They seem not to exist Every damn one of them Is completely made up Making things up People And experiences Is all that I do Safe to shore Forever more Out here Upon a distant sea Everything do I see I know when A storm is brewing A can tell when it will be Just another impossible evening I can read messages In both the clouds And the waves I wonder, am I wise If being observant Classifies me as wise Then I am a wise as any Mountain standing upon Unshakable ground Safe to shore I must get where I’m destined to be If lightening the load If plugging these holes If sealing these cracks If emptying this water Is what I must do Then without question I will do it I am quite determined To again feel Tera-firma Reality is my destination Eventually is the wind Upon my sail it pushes I know that I will make it Because I know of nothing else Belief, a catalyst to surviving The truest God of chance Brought down from the clouds Upon my shoulder he sits Whispering into my ear Telling me what’s clear Safe to shore For as far As can be seen There is water Deep and blue Endless and true Someday soon I know I am sure That there will be something Unlike what it is I have come believe… Safe To Shore Written by Keaton Foster Copyright © 2013 |
