A really cool poem from the heart about writing and how I see my purpose in this life. |
-I’ve Heard What They Say- by Keaton Foster To the ground All around So many sounds I’ve heard what they say I understand the hate I did so many things None that I’m proud of God above will judge me But only after death These people All around Speaking down Will try to judge me now Their dull words Pointed like a blade Right to the depths of my heart Piercing what I refuse to betray This curse turned gift And then back again Is a solemn duty That I cannot refuse I must say what I truly feel There can be nothing less Even if it takes my everything Everything I will gladly give If life were a popularity contest I’m quite sure that I have lost Dead last place to be exact No one drew my name from the hat Because my name was never in the hat To begin with I’ve heard what they say I’ve listened to their complaints I know how to thoroughly convey I can decipher every meaning And every tedious reason I understand more than they do Because Unlike them I am unafraid Life is a whole new game When understanding is the foundation From which every impossible mountain is built I may not be able to climb very high But I can certainly stand at the base And see all the way to the peak I know that at some point Without question And devoid of repercussions I will stand upon what I’ve created And dare I say mastered This is not easy Nor was it ever meant to be I just didn’t wake up one day a poet This is a response to years of conditioning A survival mechanism if you will I cannot help myself No more than I can help those speaking I’ve heard what they say And more than any other I understand I am no longer afraid of what it means To be who I am with regard to them I am just doing all that I can My life is meant to be as it is God above will judge me No one else could ever hope to… I’ve Heard What They Say Written by Keaton Foster Copyright © 2013 |
