poem about a crossroads in life
Is This It?

I'm not really sure how I got here

To this place and time in my fiftieth year

A milestone they say, you must be glad!

Why should I when I feel so sad

This isn't where I wanted to be

It's not the future I thought I could see

In a dead end job, afraid to change

I wish I was back on the Montana range

There's no going back, though, those bridges are burned

What's in the future, I haven't yet learned

Lately the days all just run together

Nothing to tell one from the other

Work is a drag, a mental drain

Home life presents a different strain

Do the laundry, do the shopping "There's nothing to eat!"

No one cares 'bout my aching feet

There's time I wish I could run to Mom

And be the girl who's been long gone

Instead of this woman stuck in the past

her life running by her much too fast
