Fear

The creeping chill, running down your spine,
Menacing whisper, veiled in darkness sublime,

In the distance behind you, an echoing step,
Now frozen with terror, you're unable to accept,

That someone is coming, you’ve nowhere to hide,
Heart beating wildly, you quicken your stride,

Duck into a corner, your body pressed tight,
Choking back sobs, feeling panic from fright,

Blinking hot tears, as the footsteps advance,
The stranger so close, you are lost in a trance,

One last desperate prayer, for mercy divine,
But your fate is sealed, you've run out of time.
