A Baby's Way

A Couple love and then they wait
For a miracle to appear
They yearn to become parents
They try for many years

They use the best kept secrets
That women folk pass down
So many ways to be with child
The methods are renown

They try and try so patiently
Their love is ever strong
Desires to share their love-filled lives
They've waited oh so long

Perhaps... perhaps they try too hard
Perhaps not try enough
But giving up they never do
Though waiting is so rough

They see their friends and relatives
With offspring -girl and boy
They want so much a part of life
That others so enjoy

Then one day it happens
The doctor says it's true
The test came back a positive
A baby will be due

The couple were so happy
Their prayers answered true
Her husband whispered softly
This is God's gift to you

His wife was quick to answer
But didn't make a fuss
No, my dearest husband
A gift from God- FOR US!

God's plans are not so clear to us
It's not for us to know
Just when and how things happen
Of what must we forego

Most people do believe in this
And, God might even say
"I lay the plans for life to come"
