My first attempt at a Villanelle poem. I hope the message reaches some part of you!
A Mother’s Reflection

My daughter is a sight you must behold.

Entranced by her reflection I’m enslaved.

She clomps about in heels so proud and bold.

A wobble here and there to be controlled.

Apprentice to the craft, for now unfazed.

This cherub in my heels you must behold.

The tumble to my warm protective fold,

a moment that I  treasure. I’m amazed

by innocence. She wears it proud and bold.

The likeness is uncanny. In twofold

her greatness will excel, what I have braved.

My blue eyed sprout, a sight you must behold.

Self-confidence exudes. It can’t withhold.

A trail of greatness set for her to blaze

regardless of terrain so proud and bold.

This prize of love could not have been foretold.

My five year old, a sapling, I’m to raise.

My progeny, a sight I will behold,

my reflection, in shoes so proud and bold.
