A flow poem about taking a step away from where I was once told to always remain. |
-The Edge of Town- by Keaton Foster Alone Bones No home No skin All meat Every ounce Exposed Raw Through my soul Always wanting To go back home Not allowed So I’ve been told Scolded How could I dare We don’t care Never will it be fair Stay there Where you are Where we placed you All barriers Well defined Every advance Thwarted Here and now I must remain Chained The edge of town Is where I’m bound Tied up tight Lessoning none The more I fight The more it hurts Imagine pain Now take that To the enth degree Closer to me You might be But such proximity Mine as well be an eternity You could never really know A simple man Such potent words I could never even begin To properly explain Such monuments of pain The edge of town Is where I was taken Where I was molested Raped and tortured For nothing more Then being a defenseless orifice No longer whole I am something else Many terrifying pieces Jammed into one space All those who love me All those who hate me Share little distinction They warned me They told me to stay Like a stray dog I obeyed I survived I did what I must Here at The edge of town Alone Bones No home No skin All meat All boy turned victim All man turned victimizer These hands are steady Clarity rings true I am well aware I am certain The time is now One step Far past the line The edge of town Into the heart of madness Further still I will travel I will explore All that I Am not meant to see Wiser I will be Ready to set up residence Establish dominance Make those who kept me out Pay for their mistakes Make this world A different shape A different waste A land of my ideas And no one else’s The edge of town Is about to become The center of it all Never again will I be Kept out… The Edge of Town Written by Keaton Foster Copyright © 2013 |
