Birthday Bash

I understand there is going to be a birthday bash
There will be fun, prizes, and no time for personalities to clash
A celebration by members who have left a footprint from the past
Lead by a group of elves (12 & witty), dressed all alike, oh what a gas!

Twelve years of great creations being celebrated at WDC
We have opened the hermetically sealed vault exposing genres galore
Hoping to inspire a poem, a manuscript, image, a contest or more
Who knows what we might find behind an elf's closet door.

They are holding this gig at the Desert Palace where a willow tree stands tall
Where newbie writers hang out writing, inspiring, sharing - nothing small
Everyone wants something called gift points, badges, and cNotes - the gall!
And they are trying out for a special trophy called a Haunted Pen (Plumed).

Now the elves have plans to bring folks in by an orange trolley car
How they will finance this gig we are not sure by far
Maybe they will use the money from their cookie jar
Or a lucky donation from a TV guru by the name of Bill Maher.

Come along one, come along all
Leave your work behind; mom, get out of the kitchen
Put down the spatula, set aside the bowl of rice
Don't worry if you have been naughty and not nice.

Time to be generous, give away gift points, badges, a membership or cNotes
Give a word of encouragement, review someones work - float their boat
Prizes will be for the taking for the best prose, story, and poem written
You never know, you just might win the Golden Apple if the top elf is smitten.
