I wrote this for my Grandad's funeral and was hoping it wasn't cheesy!
Dear Grandad,

When I heard that you had gone,
I didn’t know what to say.
I thought you’d live forever
And not just go that day.
You’d been so ill, for many years,
Yet never once gave in,
Against all odds so, many times,
I knew it would wear thin.

I hope you’re now at peace.
And free from any pain.
Looking down and smiling,
On us that still remain.
I know you will be happy,
In that special place,
Filled with all God’s love
And everlasting grace.

I’ll think of you each day.
And the stories that you told.
I’ll smile when I remember,
How you were so bold
And then you will live on, Forever in my heart,
Forever in my memories
You’ll be a special part.

I wish I’d had the chance,
To say a one last goodbye,
I’m sorry that I didn’t
And hope that you know why.
So now I have to say,
On a day that is so sad
I love you and I miss you,
Goodbye my dear Granddad.
