A brief summary of the struggles of teen relationships. |
The First Loser Is that all I am to you Simply just your number two No matter how much you deny it I always strike out I was never taught to play this game Even if I was It’s just not my thing When you’re up to bat It’s hit after hit after hit Until you get that home run You point to me and confess “That one’s for you” Have you every stopped to think I don’t want it that way This is truly your own selfish game I’m still the one on the sidelines While you run those bases I wait for your little game to end Counting down the seconds Until I get to see who you really are The rap-along Hug his mother Never hurt a girl Guy you truly are But who would I be to judge your obsession Baseball was your sport long before I met you And will be long until after I’m gone That’s the part you don’t understand though I want to leave I can leave I should leave But I won’t I know you can change who you are The choices you make now are temporary Baseball is set to only nine innings I can’t wait for the seventh inning stretch I’ll keep telling you how it makes me feel How I deserve better And how you do too You’re hurting all the people who love you Your mom, my mom Your dad, my dad Me, but mostly yourself You’ve had your fun The game needs to end I don’t want you to play in the majors You’re too good for that But until you see it for yourself There is nothing more I can do They say in love You sacrifice for the other That’s what I’ll keep doing You see me as second place And you insist it’s not a bad thing But in reality I’m the first loser |
