An Ode to Sloth.
An Ode to Sloth

I cannot rise, I cannot fall,

No one answers when I call,

I paid no heed to changing skies,

I fail to hear your alibis,

Day by day caught in a wheel,

Makes me woozy, makes me reel,

Keep your head down and keep on trudging,

Out of the rut our cart’s not budging,

Wicked woman without a spleen,

How you slouch!

Oh how you lean!

In younger years you knew to sprint.

In your gaze you had the glint,

A spark of life bound you to strife,

Though the present suits you no better.

So now we drag you down the road,

Groans and sighs,

You feeble corpse, you wretched toad,

How you let dust settle.
