Imagery Poem for PDG assignment
Of Service; Gift To Me

Some sounds, slowly ebbed; creating defining tinnitus
Along with this, is MS and Arthritis
Suddenly alert, door bell woofs an alarm
To alert me, she heads directly toward my arm

Moving gracefully, nails tic, tic, tic, on the floor
A warm soft nose bumps me: is someone at the door?
Giving thanks with a pat, I get ready to scat
Turn my chair on, at the drop of a hat

Trusting her judgement, I follow her lead
Engine purring; down the wheelchair ramp, we proceed
approaching the door; knock, knock! I'm on my way
To open the door, and bid you good day

Excited canine trembling, from head to foot
Jumping and spinning body, and then calm; because of my look
Turning lever nob, the outside cold blows in
Neighbor enters, addressing Bella, once again

My caressing strokes and pats; a welcome reward
For her job well done, Bella's a happy service dog, and more
I am blessed and happy to have my helper, and friend
A gift from God; "A God Send"

lines: 20
Punctuation in this poem was used to introduce pauses of different lengths, for emphasis and musicality. I left out periods because the line brakes serve this purpose.
