Political Trash Limerick

There once was a man who hungered for political power.
He was born and raised in an ivory white tower.
He’d do anything to get ahead.
“I’m just a common man like you” he often said.
But after you met him, you felt like you needed a shower.

There are so many that need power and money.
It’s the ones that will lie to get them, that makes it not funny.
Power and money seem to go hand in hand.
Outward appearances make them seem so grand,
but the real truth, it's just crap, covered with honey.

When you cheat and lie to get what you want,
Most people don’t like what you’ve got to flaunt.
Being a thief can be a lonely life.
Combined with being a liar, will only cause strife.
You may have to go skiing by yourself, in Vermont.

If you want to be president then don’t sell your soul.
It’s admirable to have such a lofty goal.
By the time you get there you’ll owe too much,
And be addicted to money, as a horrible crutch.
You’d be better off a miner, digging for coal.

Congressmen, senators and others alike,
Came from the same mold, and are easy to dislike.
They’ll say just what they think you want to hear.
I wish they’d chosen a different career.
Their best place for them, is on the end of a pike.
