Even on a lonely journey, you can find beauty in the world around you. |
Lonely roads Sometimes this lonely road grows weary I long for a voice to accompany my own Talking to one’s self holds comfort, Yet it cannot satisfy a life time I enjoy seeing life before me, I marvel at the beauty of the seasons I inhale the sweet smell of pines mixed with wild flowers Leaves dance around me, A blanket of yellows, oranges, browns, reds Trees soon dressed in diamond strings, A fur coat of white, insulates their bareness The smells of a defrosting death now weighs in the air Hopes of gaining warmth and life, enables optimism I stop and gather my thoughts, A smile up on the lips Some days I wish for another path, For continuing on seems too hard to comprehend Other times I look over my shoulder and see where I have been Determination instilled in new steps I continue on this lonely path It winds through the forest And down from mountain tops It cuts its course, being its own river Friends have come and gone Each have travelled this path for a moment Some leaving laughter, Others many tears And yet others linger on, For how long, I cannot tell I rather think of the good times Cherish the lessons Hold on to the love shared And choose to dance when it’s ill received I know not where this path shall go I know not when or where it might even end I never know what lies beyond the bend, Or what is hidden in light or shadows alike I do know one thing although, I’ll continue on I’ll walk this life I’ll walk this lonely road |
