A pact that opens a portal
Convergence-2

         Rei’s unspoken remembrances caused him to pause in his tale, but Melissa was relentless in her quest to hear this story once more. She squirmed, urging him on in his narrative, but there was so much that he couldn’t tell her, at least at her age. So, he softened the dialogue to comply with propriety, and told her the truth stripped of all the passion and emotion that might have shocked a lady of her tender years.

* * * *

         But still, his mind recalled every detail, every nuance of that encounter.

         The woman had slipped into his mind and blended her recollections with his, leaving nothing hidden as she pursued her goal, the conquering of his very soul. This time however, she seemed without defenses, and her realm appeared to dissipate before his passion, barriers becoming bonding. He could feel what she felt, and their passion became intertwined in such a way as their parts seemed to become a whole.

         His hands and lips explored what now appeared to be familiar terrain; breasts, lips, and her soft, sensuous hips. Intending to take his time once he determined that she offered no resistance, he instead was betrayed by his body, and his lust. He sensed that the advantage was his, and he intended to take full advantage of it, dropping his face into the hot, damp center of her sex. Her scent was intoxicating, and he immersed himself in her now defenseless maelstrom of pleasure.

         The presence of her mind in his gave him a unique advantage in their tryst, feeling his way through her pleasure points, and her responses seemed to indicate that she anticipated his as well. ‘Witch,’ he thought. ‘There had to be magic in this encounter—I could die happily with this woman.’

         As she felt his hands and lips on her body, Isolde couldn’t help but respond totally and without reservation, no longer hindered by her natural defenses. It seemed a bit strange this time, as she was more emotionally attached to this one than she’d ever imagined. Giving him pleasure was no longer a duty, but a sublime pleasure of her own.

         His touch was electric on her skin, and as he feasted between her legs, she began to feel the beginnings of an enormous climax. As the tremors rippled across her abdomen from her vagina, she felt truly free for the first time in her enchanted life. Grasping his head in her hands, she guided his contact with her sex to intensify her climax, allowing the throes of her pleasure to peak and subside naturally.

         Finally, she pulled him up to her face, and looking deeply into the eyes of her lover, she saw something that she’d never seen before. A glow, a spark of brightness that she’d never encountered in her long life. She felt drawn into his soul, and powerless to resist. Moreover, she no longer wanted to resist. Her thoughts faded quickly once she felt him press himself into her body. Mind and body, she thought. Now they were complete. This episode of lovemaking was just that; lovemaking. It was long, slow, and carefully contrived, given they were now joined completely. The consummation was immense and absolutely exhausting; there was the strangest feeling however, that she’d never return from this mission.

         ‘He knows’, she thought, ‘He knows who and what I am; and he’s not frightened.’

         “Well, Melissa,” he said. “I found her on the highway, alone and looking for help. How could I not aid a lady in distress?” He watched his daughter grin when he dove into the story once more. “There she was, beautiful and helpless. I had to give her a ride out of that shady truck stop; you know how I am.” Melissa sat restlessly, nodding her head knowingly. “While we were on the road, we talked a bit, and I began to understand a little of her story,” he continued. “She was a magical princess, from a far off distant land; trying to escape the tyranny of her class.” His daughter became even more excited, bouncing up and down on his lap. “More!” she exclaimed.

* * * *

         His libido had been sent to heaven, but he definitely wanted whatever happened to him to last. The most beautiful woman he’d ever seen had strolled back into his life, and he had no intention of letting her go this time. The ‘memory’ bits that he’d seen skimming across his consciousness had reintroduced her to him, but in a more vulnerable state. This he decided to exploit to the very end of this encounter; he wanted her to stay this time; not disappear like she had in encounters before.

         This encounter however, was different. He remembered… He remembered so much! Waking after their encounters; yes, he thought there had been multiple encounters, but he was always alone, wondering if he’d dreamt everything. Then, the memory faded into oblivion. But now, he felt rejuvenated; even powerful! He had no idea where the source of this strength came from, but he knew that this encounter would turn out much different than those he’d had in the past. What shape this difference might take, he couldn’t say.

         “The princess began to tell me that I’d saved her from a fate worse than death, and that she’d be eternally grateful to me if I could spirit her away from that spot. I did, and she promised that she’d see that I’d be rewarded beyond belief!” he continued.

         Melissa giggled, as she always did whenever he reached this point in the story. He could see that she wasn’t tiring of any of his tale so far, but he knew one day she’d know it all, and things might be a bit more awkward than they were already.

         He related how he’d told his passenger that he was just a humble trucker, but if she’d put her trust in him, he’d protect her from all harm. Melissa nodded her head in understanding, and put her hand on his arm assuredly. Rei smiled; this was one the favorite parts of the story for his little audience.

         He figured that she’d be a sucker for the old ‘princess and the commoner’ angle to the story, and he was right. In more ways than one, he thought. His passenger ‘was’ a princess in truth, but not in any way he might’ve imagined.

* * * *

         The odd melding with his passenger’s mind had provided Rei with many of the answers that he needed for the moment, and if truth be known, he actually felt powerful enough to perform those noble promises. He was immediately possessed with her stature, her composure, and uhm—quite frankly—her everything! This had to be as close to ‘love at first sight’ as it got.

         What frightened him was how little he knew about the situation he now found himself. He was in love with a demon, he thought! How could that have happened? There had to be some kind of magic involved, he thought. And once the act had been consummated, what then? Would he wake up alone once more, just to forget any of this ever happened?

         He was 34 years old now, with no social commitments whatsoever. An empty life; a forlorn life; a lonely life. This was the most exciting thing that’d ever taken place in his sterile existence, and he knew that if he let her go this time, he was doomed to mete out the rest of his days the same as so many others, alone and unloved. It was time to drive a stake into the ground, to make a stand, and to go for broke! With nothing to lose, he gathered his borrowed powers to keep his princess firmly grounded in this dimension, or whatever this was to her kind.

* * * *

         Isolde considered for a few moments, what could come of this mission? Her powers had been compromised, but admittedly, it was because of her own fears of resistance in her subject’s memory of past encounters. She was the daughter of Nahemah, a princess in her own right, and she’d foolishly given up her defenses simply to keep her subject within her powers for the winter solstice, when her strength would be at its greatest. She needed to reap the all-important seed for her kind; it was a requirement of all their missions, for the survival of her kind.

         It was obvious that she’d failed this mission so far, but she was desperately trying to find a way to recover. And worse yet, he was beginning to sense his power over her.

* * * *

         Now, he possessed her powers; accidentally of course, but that no longer mattered. What really mattered now was how he was prepared to use them. The glimpse he had of her soul revealed an ancient lie, and he felt an unusually strong feeling of relief by the disclosure. The tales of demons, possession, and the taking of men’s souls were now revealed to be the creations of the ignorant, the fearful and the over-imaginative.

         This encounter had been initiated to ensure the survival of a race, a species of unusual abilities. He saw through her soul, into her past and beyond. Theirs had been so much more than a simple melding of minds, more of a melding of entire races. He felt her fears, both of losing him and of the ultimate pull of the portal at the end of their tryst.

         He thought about the irony of this all, taking place in a cheap motel between two unlikely participants, both far away from anyone who could offer guidance on how this was all to play out. Exhausted, he pulled her tightly to him and felt her arms tighten around him as well. Then, he fell into a long, deep sleep, fearing that this was nothing more than a repeat of their past liaisons.

* * * *

         Melissa jostled him out of his thoughts once more, anxious for him to get on with the story. “She thought about it for a few moments, and then decided that she’d trust in my protection for her safety. Coming closer to me, she looked deeply into my eyes, and I felt something happen in my heart. Whether it was magic, or something else, I felt that we were destined to be together forever.”

         He felt Melissa give out a deep sigh, and snuggle even closer to him. ‘Hopeless romantic’, he thought, ‘just like her mother.’ Smiling, he caressed her hair, and sank once again into his passionate memories of that fateful night.

* * * *

         Generations of visits by her kind on this plane had given her a purpose that was hard to resist, and it was this sense of mission that compelled her to seek the portal once more, even knowing that her powers had been severely diminished. The only obstacle to this effort was the enormous attraction that she felt towards this man. She had ‘memory’ now, and this knowledge was eating away at her mission resolve each moment that she stayed in this dimension.

         Isolde felt the balance of desire tip from her mission towards the companionship that she now knew she’d enjoyed with this man, and her glimpse into his soul provided ample temptation for an idyllic future, complete with a full family, and a future. But the mission was proving to be a nearly irresistible force to her resolve.

         Ruffling her hair fondly, Rei went on with his story to Melissa, who now began to show a little drowsiness. After all, it was very close to her bedtime, and he needed to get up early the next morning to attend a meeting of his board of directors.

         His silence however, provoked another nudge from his daughter, who was not yet asleep, and appeared to be determined to last until the end of the story. Chuckling, Rei picked up the story where he’d finished, thinking that his daughter could more easily finish the tale than he could.

         “The princess was now convinced that her future lay with him, but she also knew that her clan would be searching the known universe for her, and woe be to whomever they found to have aided in her escape.” Rei felt Melissa clutch his arm a bit tighter, as this part of the story seemed a bit more scary to her than the rest. For him too, he thought.

* * * *

         He awoke the next morning, and as he’d feared, he was alone. Why he still remembered the encounter was another mystery. In all previous contacts he’d awoken to live his life as usual, ignorant of the events of the previous night. The bed still contained the evidence of the visit, and his passenger’s scent still filled the room; intoxicating. Shaking his head, he gathered up his personal items, settled his bill, and returned to his rig, puzzling over the entire night.

         Tossing his belongings into the cab, he automatically strode to the rear of the truck to check on his load. Unlocking the back doors, he pulled them open to confront a frightening sight. The light within the trailer was blinding, and squinting against the glare, Rei saw the profile of his passenger between him and the load. The box was translucent before them, radiating an intense glow that seemed to encompass the lady. She was obviously resisting its pull, but he could see that she was losing the battle moment by moment.

         As he moved closer to assess the scene playing out before him, a bright bolt of light shot out of the center of the source, and struck him on the left side of his head, throwing him back towards the open doors. Just before he landed on the floor, he heard a female voice scream out, “Noooooo…….!” As he shook his head to clear it, he got to his feet once more, but again, a bolt erupted from the light source and struck him down again.

         This time, he felt an upwelling surge of strength within his body, and an actual ‘handle’ with which to use it. The power that she’d poured into his body to keep him to her was now available to use as his defense; his weapon.

         Wasting no time, he willed a wall between the source of the attack and the two of them, standing in its path. In no time at all, he realized how little he knew about his own strength. The next bolt blew through his ‘wall’ and flattened him again. This was getting pretty damn old, he thought.

         He felt a presence at his side this time, as he rose to his feet once more. As his passenger grasped his shoulder, he felt control coursing through his body, aligning the forces within him into a focal point, just in front of the source of the attacks. He turned his head briefly to look into her face, and her eyes captured his. There was a bright spark that he could only identify as longing, and determination.

         This time, when the bolt hurled at them, his wall held, and although he felt the sting of the blow throughout his body, he was exhilarated. This was a fight that he’d sought all his life; for his love and his future! Until this moment, he knew that he’d lose this fight, as there were forces here that he simply didn’t understand.

         But now, with her beside him, providing him strength, he felt invincible. One more tremendous blast from the oblong box, and Rei was wrought with pain, but it passed quickly as his passenger, his lover, shared both the pain, and the relief of recovery through touch. She was there for him; and he for her—the Yin and Yang, separate pieces forming a whole.

* * * *

         She cringed from the scathing blasts of power seeking to protect her from harm, intercepting the most lethal blows on her own person. Her mother, furious with rage, struck out with a madness that only a mother could muster for a favorite daughter. Isolde had made her decision in those few furious moments, and sought to protect her lover with her own life.

‘          Maybe this was the death that the legends referred to whenever ‘collectors’ were initiated’, she thought. ‘If so, then she was prepared to die that day.’

* * * *

         In the midst of battle, Rei kept his composure enough to try and place himself between the attacks and his newly found princess, and discovered that their combined power was barely enough to fend off the bolts blasting out of the blazing energy core. But it was enough for a standoff, he figured.

         Now, he needed to find a way to back away from the threat without exposing either of them to certain destruction. Just as he was about to pull them both towards the open doors in the rear of the trailer, silence came down around them like a shroud.

         Stunned, Rei glanced around them, and found that they were standing in front of an empty box, still smoking from the intense moments before. He was immensely relieved to find his passenger still holding on to him, although she was shaking.

         Wrapping his arms around her, he held her tightly, whispering soothing words into his lover’s ear.

         He discovered that he was in total love with an enigma, a bit of misunderstood mythology, and he was NOT willing to give her up! And, because of mind meld with her, he now knew her name; Isolde…

         She looked into his eyes, and spoke to him in a language that he didn’t understand, but his connection with her mind provided the translation. Tears began to roll down his cheeks as he pressed his lips into her neck. He didn’t have to say anything in return; she understood.

* * * *

         His baby was still awake, and looking up into his face for the rest of the story. “Sure enough,” he continued, “the rescue party showed up the second day of our introduction. The powers tried to pull her back into her realm; she resisted, but it was not going really well.” Melissa tightened her grip on his arm. He had to remember that she was just a child, not yet exposed to the extremes of human behavior.

         “I was just a truck driver, not a warrior, but my princess had powers that she passed on to me that allowed me to protect both of us from the attacks. Once the rescuers realized that the princess didn’t want to return to her kingdom, they retreated.”

         He felt Melissa softly stroke the shock of white hair that remained on the left side of his head, visual evidence of his encounter with the retrieval attempt.

         His daughter relaxed at that point in the story, and was simply waiting for the ending before slipping off into sleep. She was his princess now, his treasure and his joy.

         “I’d like to say that we lived happily ever after, but the story isn’t finished yet,” he told her. “My little princess must keep alert at all times for the possibility of the return of raiders from the magical world. But remember, I will always be here to protect you.” Saying that, he kissed her on the forehead, and tucked her into her bed.

         Once he’d left the bedroom, Isolde slipped up to him silently, holding Marcus, their 3 year old son, sleeping in her arms. He smiled, kissed her, and escorted them into the boy’s bedroom. He was thinking he was the luckiest man alive, but he wasn’t a fool.

         His research had discovered a lot of information AND misinformation about the situation he was in. His own direct experience with his beloved had disclosed that there were no sinister elements that he need worry about, at least as far as the human race was concerned.

         The issue of a Succubus and a human was referred to as a ‘Cambion’ by medieval canons, and they were bestowed with magical powers, usually diabolical in intent. He’d been very careful since Melissa’s birth, trying to catch anything that seemed out of the ordinary, but so far, nothing. He was beginning to think that there was nothing to worry about, but still, he remained on alert.

* * * *

         “I love you,” the voice wisped into the room. Melissa smiled in her sleep. G’ma was here, as she was every night, to wish her ‘good night.’ Their secret, carefully kept, was that she’d been visiting every night since she was born, although she didn’t remember every one. “I love you too, g’ma…” Melissa responded.

         A single strand of fire, no more than 4 inches in length, spun out over the sleeping girl, rolling into a ball of light, keeping watch over the sleeping girl, protecting her from all harm.

         Queen Nahemah knew better than to oppose the laws of nature, and her daughter had certainly earned her right to a fulfilled life of her own. It was hard, though, to release her from their world, but the offspring of her union with the human had been well worth her trouble.

         ‘If they only knew what the future would bring’, she chuckled.
