The Slip

They waited and waited. The two twins couldn’t wait to find out who was really who. They had just turned 16 a couple days ago, but their parents have switched them up at times. The family waited at the hospital waiting for the doctor to bring back the papers. They waited for a couple hours before a nurse was sent out to tell them that the doctor had an emergency operation he had to do in order to save a life. One of the twins, Darren, started to drift off. Terre, the other twin, didn’t want to sleep. As Darren slept he had a nightmare that his parents were monsters and switched the twins on purpose just so they wouldn’t know who they were in life. Dr. Arakun must have been a really valuable doctor. Terre started tickling his brothers nose, laughing. Darren woke up in a panic and screamed “monster”. Darren dropped Terre and thought it was hilarious. Dr. Arakun came walking down the hall with a weird look on his face. He said “Boys, there’s no easy way to say this but, your parents aren’t your real parents”. He explained how they had been switched by mistake with some other twin boys at the hospital. The boys wondered if they would ever figure out who their real parents were. The boys shocked and very heart broken went home to the people they had been raised by for the last 16 years. They didn’t say a word.
