A reflection of Luke 19.
He came, this man of royal birth,
this man who would be King.
He came, this man who was from first
the One to be our King.

The King? The King!!!
What will the people bring?
Dancing? Music? Revelry?
At least someone will sing!

What we hear is far from that.
His subjects grit their teeth.
No adoring bows.
No worship at His feet.

No, this King, He comes to hatred.
He comes and is told to go.
“We don’t want you to be our King.”
The subjects let Him know.

This servant King who comes with love
wants to give you power.
Oh subjects of the kingdom, this was our finest hour!

Don’t turn your back, don’t turn away,
for He was and will always be!
He is always and forever the One and Only King!

If you’ve turned you can return.
There is Mercy with this King.
He has the right to shut the door,
But He’ll be there if you ring.

If I were you I’d bang on the door
until I know I’m heard.
Then join the party and the work
and turn your back no more.

Our King He lives forever.
Hold fast your minds and hearts.
This King that lives forever
will finish what He starts.
