The Loss of Hope

A darkened sky,a moonless night
Do we dare let dreams take flight


As shooting stars fall wishes arise
In a last attempt to keep hope alive

We place our trust in things unseen
And wonder at the greater scheme

Truth becomes lies and love becomes hate
Trust gets broken so we lose faith

we give up on dreams and plans and hope
and resign ourselves selves to a future in which we simply cope
