I am still just the Odd Girl Out...
I’ve always been the odd girl out.
I’ve never gone with the crowd.
They say quiet when I shout.
They want peace. I want loud.

Everyone has a pretty face.
I am the ugly duckling one.
I want leather. They want lace.
They stay here. I get gone.

I am such a lonely soul,
playing bad when they are good.
While they are easy to understand,
I am always misunderstood.

I wear black. They wear white.
I see stars. They see sun beams.
They want day. I want night.
They want wishes. I want dreams.

I always seem to frown.
They always seem to smile.
I look up. They look down.
I walk an inch. They walk a mile.

They want a lover. I want a friend.
They want to be carried. I will walk.
They want the beginning. I’ll take the end.
They can listen. I will talk.

They will walk down mainstreet.
I will take the alleyways.
They like to hear the drummer’s beat.
I will take the trumpeter’s bays.

They always seem to have the word.
I never know what it’s about.
But then again, they’re not absurd.
I am just the odd girl out.
