A Shape Poem. We live our lives day to day; they flow by, like sand through an hourglass.
Hourglass

The days of our lives trickle by, like sand in an hourglass.
Some seem to drag on and on, others whip along so fast.
We live, age, learn, love, yet time always passes us by.
Time is spent enjoying things, and yes, often we cry.
But we move on, for all we know is how to live.
Yet all through our lives, we share, we give,
A part of ourselves, an essence, our soul.
In doing this, we become one, whole.
We feel the grains draining away,
Some age nicely, some decay.
Until one day, we look,
See all we forsook.
And cry.
Why?
Don’t cry.
Our time was then.
For days past we yen.
All the grains in that hourglass,
Are our life experiences, the past.
As the glass fills, we can see those days.
Remember how we lived, and count the ways,
We loved, who we cherished, important events.
That pile of sand is precious, it’s our life’s contents.
Hold each grain close, recall special moments every day,
Tell your special someone “I love you”, in your own way.
Remember your life with happiness, shed no tears or cry.
Turn this hourglass over, there’s much you’ve yet to try.
