For those who are curious about how I came up with your stars in a review. |
If you are reading this, you have found my link to My Star Rating Method Generally, I’m not wild about the stars. I also dislike using up one's review characters to explain myself-its just not fair to those offering points for 250 characters of genuine review space. Since we have this star system on wdc, my goal is to make sure that the stars and the comments aren’t saying two different things. So, I will try to balance one correction per half star if its really a correction, not a suggestion. ie, if spelling is an issue (not just type-o), I may dock half a star. I also err toward higher stars even if I put several suggestions. Suggestions are not the same as corrections. This isn’t rocket science and I stink at Math, so don’t worry so much about the stars. 4-5 is terrific, 3 needs some work, and if I think it’s a 2 or 1, I probably will just pass on rating the whole thing as its likely to be the wrong genre for me or I woke up on the wrong side of the bed. If you have questions about what or why I rated a piece, feel free to ask them. If you improved the piece and want me to take a second look, I can change the rating or maybe just send you a thumbs up and a "virtual rating" of Writing ML Stars to reward your efforts. If you read my review and think I'm full of baloney, erase the thing and move on. If you want a more detailed review or are ready to send it out to a publisher and want me to be ruthless, let me know. I try not to bear fangs to newbies and idealistic writers. I don't even have fangs, honestly, but I will grow some to help out a fellow writer. Otherwise, I will do my best to be fair and keep a balance in my review. If you really don't want to bother yourself with stars, feel free to select "Reviews, No Ratings" under Rating/Review Preferences before you save your piece or go back and edit previously saved pieces. You may also select "Rating Requires Review" to ensure you don't have any "drive-by maimings" with no comments at all, especially those three's hurled from the rocks above with no hint to the recipient who just hurled them.
