Contest poem. The poem is based on war and the pointlessness of war.
Glimmering specks of starlight dusk
Pieced by the sliver bullet’s brusque,
Are you out of your beautiful mind?
Has the gas left you bleached blind?

Mist of flares betraying you ascend
To find the roots have entangled your friend,
Are you out of your beautiful mind?
Have you no debt to mankind?

War of roses and blood spark insanity
While politicians lay drunk with vanity,
Are you out of your beautiful mind?
Must you squeeze for drops of the lemon rind?

Must you fan the flames of war?
Kill off the rich and the poor?
Are you out of your beautiful mind?
Glory, glory, and war intertwined!

This nameless hero buried under the tongues,
His life’s final breath escaped his lungs:
Callused Earth I am a sinner, a killer,
And today, the Devil is the only victor.
