It's another day in the life

It's another day in the life...
another day of pain, loneliness and strife...
just another day to spend alone...
without someone to call my own...

There was one man in my life...
who sliced through the loneliness with a knife...
now he has been carried away and is gone...
but still my life continues on...

I look upon others who have found true love...
sent down from heaven above...
but there seems to be no one else for me...
I am still as lonely as can be...

I am the third wheel, the outside man...
who makes a difference when he can...
and I try my best to make others happy...
not sad, miserable, or crappy...

I am the first to admit I have made many mistakes...
and not given others a break...
please realize that I am doing the best I can...
but my mind is a twisted mess, I'm the lonely man...

I turn the page of another day...
and try to make the pain go away...
I am sorry to those I have hurt...
and to those whom I have misjudged and been curt...

I do the best I can for my friends...
because true friends are there to the end...
but at the end of the day I go home to my bed...
where I spent years with the man I wed...

And yet I cry yet again for my loss...
and hope for life to toss...
someone who can once again fulfill my dreams...
is it as hopeless as it seems?

So excuse me friends, I am so very sor for any trouble I sometimes cause...
but at least for a moment, please give pause...
that to me life seems hopeless and bleak...
and not at all good or unique...

So I lash out at those that care for me most...
and I drink some more, so I can coast...
through another day and try to move on...
now that the angel of my life is dead and gone...

My friends are all I have left...
and I am already bereft...
if I lose the love from my friends that I have now...
I might as well drop dead, like a butchered cow.
