How Harry Potters youngest childs first year of hogwarts goes
Chapter One: The Lost Hippogriff

“Get out of here Albus!” shouted James.

“But James! Where am I supposed to sit? Can’t I sit with you and your friends?” Albus whined. It was Albus’s first year at Hogwarts and James second. Albus was so afraid of getting put into Slytherin he almost didn’t get on the train. His dad said it didn’t matter though, right?

James sighed and looked up and down the corridors of the train, “There,” He said pointing to a compartment at the end of the hall, “Go sit with that first year. He looks nice.”

“Okay. Whatever.” But what he didn’t know was that James just paired Albus up with a family enemy.

Albus stumbled through the corridor, his short stature making it difficult to pull his trunk, towards the compartment and found only a boy in there. He knocked on the door of the compartment and asked very politely if he could join him.

The boy looked him up and down taking in his glasses and black messy hair and green eyes.

“Sure,” he said after a while. He was very stiff and sat very proudly. He had a long drawn face and was very tall.

“So, um, what’s your name?” Asked Albus after an uncomfortable silence.

“Scorpius, Scorpius Malfoy,” He said,” What is your name?”

“Albus,” He said. Uh oh he thought, I’m not supposed to be here. Again there was an uncomfortable silence. Albus decided to put his trunk up on the racks above their heads and was having a hard time.

“Here, let me help you,” Said Scorpius standing to help. He was much taller than Albus. And a good thing too.

“Thank you.” He said putting his glasses back on which had fallen in the struggle.

“Your welcome. Your owl is very beautiful,” He said noticing Albus’s brown barn owl.

“Yes. His name is Spectacles, I named him that because of the white spectacles around his eyes. You see? Oh I almost forgot, I have to send my mother a letter.” He said looking for things to write his letter.

“I don’t have an owl. Father says I don’t need one.” He said sitting back down with a sad face making his chin look longer.

Albus noticed his sadness and tried to cheer him up, “Well you know, owls can be a bit of a hassle. They poop too much and always bring in dead animals.”

“Oh.” Scorpius was still disappointed. Albus moved to the seat in front of Scorpius after sending Spectacles out the window he told Scorpius a story:

“One time Spectacles brought in a dead rabbit. Our cat Crookshanks saw it and began to eat it!” Scorpius looked disgusted, “He was half way done with it when mum saw it. She blamed Scorpius though because he bought it in.”

      “That’s bloody disgusting.”

      “It is.”

“Maybe I will get a cat instead. They sound much more fun.”

“Yes.” It was then awkwardly silent again between the boys when it was interrupted by a small noise.

“Do you here that? I heard it when I came in here but it stopped and it’s picking up again. . . You don’t think it’s an animal do you?”

“I don’t know, It could be. . . I’ll look under the seats if you look above?”

“Deal,” Said Scorpius standing upon the seat, “There’s nothing up here. Just our trunks. Do you see anything?”

“Um, no. Wait, I think . . . yes! I think it’s a hippogriff! It appears to be only a baby,” Came Albus’s voice from under the far seat.

        “A hippogriff!?”

        “Yes, come look!”

Scorpius jumped down and looked under the seat and saw a sleeping hippogriff. Its eagle head was gray and the lion body was as orange as the sun. A soft blue tinted the legs, and the claws were golden to perfection. Neither boy’s had ever seen a wild animal, let alone a hippogriff! They smiled at each other with excitement.

        “Let’s keep it!” Said Scorpius.

        “What, are you crazy?!”

“Probably. We can keep it in the Forbidden Forest. It will be safe there won’t it?”

“Yes I suppose. We could ask Hagrid to look after it for us. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind.”

        “Who’s Hagrid?”

“He is the game keeper at Hogwarts of course. The man looks like a giant but of course he isn’t. He is good friends of my parents.”

        “. . . What’s your surname anyway?”

“Potter. I know something happened between our parents but I don’t know what, but mine don’t like yours,” He said with a frown making his glasses slide down his oval face,” But I don’t care what they say. I wish to be friends with you.”

“I like you too. No matter what they say we will be friends.”

“Good. Now. . . what about the hippogriff? How are we supposed to get it to Hagrid before the feast and what are we going to do with it while it’s here on the train?” Asked Albus doubtfully.

“That is an excellent question.” Scorpius said turning toward the animal.

The two boys were watching the hippogriff in silence thoughtfully when a knock on the door made them jump. Scorpius went to the door rubbing his head where he hit it on the seat.

“Would you kids like some treats?” Asked a very old, wrinkly lady pushing a very heavy looking cart.

“Oh! Chocolate Frogs! Both my father and uncle collected the cards when they were my age” Said Albus from behind Scorpius. Both boys nearly leaped at the cart to get as much candy as possibly. After paying the lady they sat down, ate candy, and talked the whole ride. The hippogriff had woken up during the commotion and the boys fed it small amounts of Albus’s sandwich his mother had packed him.

“Why did your mother make you a sandwich anyway?” Asked Scorpius.

“She thinks I will get sick off of all the candy they give us on the train,” Said Albus lightly while tossing the hippogriff the last of it.

Albus learned about Scorpius’s parents and now understood why his mum and dad did not want him to be friends with Scorpius. But Albus didn’t care. And Scorpius learned all about Albus’s parents and family and their history. Albus had brought with him his Genealogy book his aunt Hermione had given him for his 8th birthday and they were happily looking into it. Apparently Scorpius was Albus’s great cousin by marriage.

“All of my family was in Slytherin. And all of yours was in Griffindor. There is no way we will be in the same house. I know it.” Complained Scorpius.

“We can still be friends can’t we? My dads’ best friends’ family was in Slytherin since like forever. But he was put in Griffindor with my dad. So maybe we will be in the same house.” Said Albus smiling at Scorpius brightly. This made Scorpius feel much better. He wouldn’t tell Albus this but his father has no friends, resulting in Scorpius himself to have no friends. He can’t lose Albus. They were friends now.

“I think we are almost there. We should put our robes on.”

“I would think so.” Said Scorpius pulling his robes out from his trunk, “So where are we going to put the hippogriff?”

“We can put it in my owl’s cage since it is now empty. I have a towel we will be able to cover it with.”

“Good idea! And when we meet Hagrid we can give it to him to take care of.”

“Excellent. Go on little buddy, wake up,” Albus crooned to the hippogriff. It yawned widely showing off very large teeth. He stretched and walked straight into the cage and fell asleep again snoring softly.

Hogsmead station came into view and the train stopped. The boys walked off the train together realizing they soon will be sorted and became very nervous again.

"What if we aren't in the same house?" Albus had no answer. And the boys followed Hagrid’s voice waiting for a chance to get to him.
