Ever wanted to get out?
As I got father away from the dreaded slice of earth, the sky got lighter. And as it got lighter, my disbelief grew tenfold at having finally escaped from my “home”. After 18 long years of abuse and uncalled for hatred, I had finally gotten out and free. I had finally achieved one of my greatest desires. (My second one being actually getting somewhere worthwhile.)

As I passed the California state line, I tried to stop myself from doing a celebratory victory dance. This got harder when my new favorite song came on…

In the last 10 hours, I had seen most of what the American countryside had to offer, but none of that green beauty could have prepared me for what lay ahead. As I approached the great, big open vastness, I searched for a place to park the orange piece of junk I had ridden in since departing Tennessee. I found a spot, parked, and jumped out as fast as my legs would allow me to. As I saw the sparkling blue expanse, I felt my fears diminish, and my hopes soar. I had made it. Nothing could ever stop me now. I was as indestructible as God.
