The beginning part of a high school relationship
She was fun, he was shy
Their friendship was as sweet as pie.

She thought he had an ego, he thought she was weird,
From her table, she peered.

She came over to talk to a friend,
And began a love that would not end.

He made her laugh the first they met,
But still, they didn’t know yet.

Things were funny as the months progressed,
More and more they couldn’t rest.

The dance was near, he needed a date,
The time was now, he couldn’t wait.

He asked her out, she didn’t reply,
Walking away, he wanted to die.

She called later to set things straight,
She was ready for a date.

They enjoyed one’s company despite some issues,
And at times she needed some tissues.

For the summer she lived in Florida,
On the gulf, in Punta Gorda.

He toured England and France,
But never forgot their first dance.

They came back and told their stories,
And released all their worries.

Life went on with another year of school,
With the students, they had to duel.

He was a senior and she a junior,
She wished to leave one year sooner.

He left and she stayed,
But their relationship did not fade.
